Tip Top

An app for changing feedback routine

Allows teachers to get feedback, and make feedback on what they do, whenever they need it!

Starting Point | Research Phase

At the beginning, we wanted to focus on a specific area and to find out is there any opportunity for us. In this case, we chose education and generated our first research question - "How could tech better learning?"

Later in the research phase, we chose teacher as our main target group. And we decided our process should put more focus on users' needs and wants. We did multiple interviews with the teachers and extracted insights from the interviews.

Define Phase

Based on the insights we found in the last stage, we made our new research question "How might we help educators pass on quality materials?" and decided the final product would be an app. We made some simple mock-ups for showing our ideas and went back to the users to see if the ideas fit their needs. After getting new feedbacks from the user-testing we continued analyzed the pros and cons of our concepts.

After several rounds of back and forth analyzing and user-testing, we found one idea that fitted in most of the insights and the user loved the most. Which is an idea about helping teacher do more self-evaluation on their speech and materials.

The first user-testing we did and some of our concept drawings

We always evaluated our concepts after the user-testing and got more understanding on our users.

Settled down our direction basing on our further understanding of the users and the insights.

Develop Phase

In the next round of user-testing, more than half of our users indicated they want to get more evaluation and feedbacks from students rather than having a self-evaluation. We also found that we couldn't isolate teachers from students when we developing concepts. In the end we turned the original concept into an app that helps teacher get more useful feedback from students.

Deliver Phase | Future

We refined the final concept into our final product-Tiptop.

After that we reached out Deloitte Digital Norway and Section of Digitizing of Education at Oslo Metropolitan University to seek for further development. They provided us some feedback and opened the door of future cooperation.
